Info for parents

What is Toddler Talk? Toddler Talk is a pilot study where we teach parents tools that will help their toddler’s language development.

How much of a time commitment is the class? Participants must commit to attend a one-time 2 hour and 30 minute class. Interested participants will be asked fill out a consent form and survey. Next, participants will be randomly assigned a date when they will attend the Toddler Talk class. Half of the participants will be asked to wait six months before attending the Toddler Talk class and half of the participants will begin the class immediately. We realize that this may be inconvenient, but this allows us to accurately test the benefits of the class. Also, all participants must commit to returning six months later to fill out follow-up surveys. Participants will receive a $25 Visa gift card for your time.

Who can participate? We are looking for parents who have a toddler between the age of one (12 months) and 1.5 years (16 months). Families must primarily speak English at home and the focus child of the study must not have any developmental or hearing disabilities.

When is the next Toddler Talk class? The next Toddler Talk class will be held on May 20th at 1:00pm. Free babysitting will be available.

Where is the next Toddler Talk class? Toddler Talk will be held at multiple locations in Ithaca, Groton, and Newfield (see the form below).
